| I believe we have Mr. Mitch Blighter, our President of the. | 00:02:10 | |
| Rotary Club of Camden County is Mr. Bruno here as well? | 00:02:14 | |
| Yes, Sir. Yeah, all both coming up. | 00:02:17 | |
| This is Jerry Brumbleau, and I am the incoming president of the Rotary Club of Camden. I'm here this evening to. | 00:02:30 | |
| Talk about the recent Hello Summer events that we had in the. | 00:02:40 | |
| At the waterfront. | 00:02:45 | |
| Last weekend and then the week before at the Saint Mary's Aquatic Center. | 00:02:46 | |
| Sorry, I wanted to share some highlights. | 00:02:55 | |
| So the Saint Mary's Fishing Classic, along with the Hello Summer Festival, has been a Rotary tradition for years. | 00:02:58 | |
| We've been doing this and raising money for our club. | 00:03:04 | |
| For how long for the fishing tournament? | 00:03:07 | |
| There you go. | 00:03:12 | |
| So, as it happens, this year was the most successful fishing tournament we've ever had. | 00:03:13 | |
| And we had a Hello Summer festival as well, but we introduced it. We introduced 2 new events into our. | 00:03:18 | |
| Our event lineup, and one of those was the Lucky Duck Splash at the Aquatic Center. | 00:03:25 | |
| So basically what we did was we had local collaborators, local business people sponsor our event and we provided a complete day at | 00:03:29 | |
| the water park for kids to come in, get admission. | 00:03:34 | |
| Play games, get prizes. | 00:03:40 | |
| Recognize local. | 00:03:42 | |
| Outreach programs like the Saint Mary's River Keeper. | 00:03:45 | |
| The Rotary Club. | 00:03:49 | |
| And also. | 00:03:50 | |
| Robotics club with the high school was there as well. | 00:03:53 | |
| So and then. | 00:03:56 | |
| The week after we had the Hello Summer Festival, we had a craft beer tasting event and particularly the craft beer tasting event. | 00:03:58 | |
| The reason I'm here is to thank the city for the cooperation and participation with that. So we had. | 00:04:05 | |
| Support from Siegel's restaurant. They're the ones that primarily helped us do that, but. | 00:04:12 | |
| Also the DDA. | 00:04:17 | |
| And the tourism Bureau. | 00:04:19 | |
| Both of those institutions were integral with helping us execute this event. | 00:04:22 | |
| They helped us with advising on advertising. | 00:04:27 | |
| Helped us with the permitting process, the scheduling process, long and short. We had an event in downtown Saint Mary's that every | 00:04:30 | |
| attendee said. | 00:04:34 | |
| This is a great idea. Can we please do it next year? | 00:04:39 | |
| We are able to get volunteers from local nonprofit groups, including the Kiwanis Club. | 00:04:42 | |
| Rotary Club of Camden County, Saltwater Performing Arts and many others that volunteered to come help at the event and participate | 00:04:47 | |
| with attendees. | 00:04:52 | |
| We hope to have this event again next year and we just wanted to thank you guys for your support. | 00:04:56 | |
| All right, now I'll give you a little bit more detail. One, this was the biggest fishing tournament we had we raised. | 00:05:02 | |
| Well, we gave away $11,000 in cash prices just at the fishing tournament. | 00:05:08 | |
| But like what Mitch said is the purpose of the event is to raise money for the Camden County Rotary Club for charitable. | 00:05:13 | |
| Things that we do in the community. | 00:05:20 | |
| And that was a good success. Well, this year we did something different. We added this craft beer thing. | 00:05:22 | |
| And so. | 00:05:27 | |
| That would not have worked without the city. | 00:05:29 | |
| And our local businesses. | 00:05:32 | |
| And and other clubs helping put this thing on. | 00:05:36 | |
| Because it's the first time we've ever done anything like that. | 00:05:40 | |
| That was able to happen, and it happened without a hitch. | 00:05:43 | |
| Starting with Mr. Blackerby, but he's not here today. | 00:05:46 | |
| But when I think he wrote the ordinance for the. | 00:05:51 | |
| The alcohol catering license and City Council passed that. | 00:05:55 | |
| City Clerk implemented it. | 00:06:01 | |
| And we didn't have anybody from the state threatening to put us in jail, lock us up or take our permits away. | 00:06:03 | |
| For the first time you know so I think that worked and that's that started with you guys and then. | 00:06:08 | |
| I've not had an event where we've had that much cooperation between. | 00:06:13 | |
| Businesses have donated over 50 and $17,000. | 00:06:17 | |
| For charitable contributions to the thing to. | 00:06:22 | |
| The different civic organizations that participated with us. | 00:06:26 | |
| But and the city. | 00:06:30 | |
| Bent over backwards to help us. | 00:06:32 | |
| Candice and. | 00:06:35 | |
| Main Street, Angela. | 00:06:36 | |
| Made this thing really work, but it took the whole city. | 00:06:39 | |
| To do that you guys passing that ordinance and then. | 00:06:43 | |
| We had the TV fire department. | 00:06:46 | |
| Public works, and I hope I didn't leave anybody else out, but there were. | 00:06:49 | |
| There was a everybody corporate incorporated to the fullest extent and made this thing work really good. | 00:06:54 | |
| And I think it'll be a really good event in the future for the city. | 00:06:59 | |

| Juneteenth. Then I'll read that to us. | 00:07:24 | |
| Juneteenth National Independence Day. | 00:07:28 | |
| Proclamation by the mayor of city of Saint Mary's, Georgia. | 00:07:31 | |
| Whereas on September 22nd, 1862. | 00:07:34 | |
| President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation, abolishing. | 00:07:37 | |
| Slavery in the United States and WHEREAS on June 19th, 1865. | 00:07:43 | |
| Texas received word by Union General Gordon Granger of the emancipation of slaves. | 00:07:48 | |
| And whereas June 19th has since become known as Freedom Day. | 00:07:54 | |
| And the official day of recognition for Juneteenth. | 00:07:58 | |
| And whereas Juneteenth will be celebrated in various observances. | 00:08:01 | |
| Throughout the US, Camden County and city of Saint Mary's. | 00:08:05 | |
| And whereas City Council designated June 19th the city holiday. | 00:08:08 | |
| Which we recognized on June 19th, 2025. | 00:08:12 | |
| And whereas all city buildings will be closed in observance of Juneteenth. | 00:08:16 | |
| Now, therefore, I Gregory Lockhart, mayor and City Council members of Saint Mary's. | 00:08:20 | |
| Recognized Juneteenth National Independence Day and encourage all citizens to join in the observance of this day. | 00:08:24 | |
| And witness wherever I have set my hand, this 16th day of June and the year of our Lord 2025. | 00:08:31 | |

| For years and years to try to get some recognition and just, you know. | 00:11:08 | |

| I'm the founder of Back Home Memorial Project and for years we have been trying to get recognition for the 30 people killed at the | 00:11:23 | |
| plant. | 00:11:26 | |
| But we really wanted to capture the story, so all of our thought. | 00:11:31 | |
| Volunteers. Family members, Workers, first responders. | 00:11:35 | |
| This is our third try at trying to get this documentary done. | 00:11:40 | |
| But as Anne, the producer. | 00:11:45 | |
| And long Stride said Saturday night. | 00:11:48 | |
| Thank you to the amazing people of Camden County. | 00:11:51 | |
| We made history. The first not Emmy nomination in the county, the first Emmy win in the county. | 00:11:54 | |
| And I want you all to remember that they are students at Camden County High School. | 00:12:01 | |
| That are engaged in audio video. | 00:12:05 | |
| If we could inspire. | 00:12:08 | |
| One child to take an interest in filmmaking. | 00:12:10 | |
| I don't know all the details, but I've heard you all have a film production company here. | 00:12:14 | |
| I'm so proud of you all. | 00:12:19 | |
| And we can build an entire industry on storytelling. | 00:12:22 | |
| And the love of the coast and all of the dreams that came true. | 00:12:26 | |
| Because of this county. | 00:12:30 | |
| And I want to thank you all. | 00:12:32 | |
| And thank our volunteers. | 00:12:33 | |
| And Miss Emilie has the reins of the project now I'm no longer CEO. | 00:12:36 | |
| And the Academy did something Saturday night they normally don't do. | 00:12:42 | |
| They let her present. | 00:12:47 | |
| The other winners at the Emmy Awards? | 00:12:49 | |

| They went out of their pockets, their meager wallets, and got the. | 00:12:59 | |

| Per plate dinner that was required. | 00:13:08 | |
| For them to be at that award ceremony. | 00:13:12 | |
| I, I just want to say that, you know, these women. | 00:13:17 | |
| And a few men and the vice president, but I don't do anything. | 00:13:20 | |
| They worked tirelessly. | 00:13:24 | |
| And, and, and they get a whole lot done and they're keeping this alive in in Saint Mary's because. | 00:13:27 | |
| Right now. | 00:13:34 | |
| Only maybe one or two. | 00:13:36 | |
| Students and. | 00:13:38 | |
| You Camden County schools know anything about this? | 00:13:41 | |
| So let's keep this history going because. | 00:13:43 | |
| Without the help of these ladies, if I call. | 00:13:47 | |
| Uh, we wouldn't want, we wouldn't have been as effective in the Vietnam War as we did because. | 00:13:51 | |
| They provided the trip players. | 00:13:57 | |

| Miss Everett, I was personally fortunate enough to see the. | 00:14:03 | |
| The whole video at the. | 00:14:07 | |
| Memorial Annual. | 00:14:10 | |
| Ceremony you had. | 00:14:12 | |

| We've been called and we need to answer that call. | 00:14:51 | |
| And our history is great. | 00:14:54 | |
| You all can help us right now. We're in the middle of a campaign to get the 30 people the Congressional Gold Medal. | 00:14:56 | |
| You are our representatives if you write a letter to the president. | 00:15:04 | |
| It can get done. | 00:15:09 | |
| We can bypass Congress. | 00:15:11 | |
| And I think that he will listen. | 00:15:13 | |
| Because you are the representatives of this county. | 00:15:16 | |

| 6888 have their Congressional Gold Medals because Savannah stood up. | 00:15:21 | |
| They have their movie because everybody advocated. | 00:15:26 | |

| We went through this tragedy together, we stood up together and we survived it. | 00:15:33 | |
| You're great people believe in yourself, I love you and I believe in you. | 00:15:38 | |

| I was gonna let Steve or Alan do it, but you, you do it. Yeah, I'll give the basic announcement and if you want to add to it, so. | 00:16:50 | |
| Several weeks ago with the opportunity. | 00:16:57 | |
| To recognize Coach Aaron here with the. | 00:17:00 | |
| Camden High Hall of Camden County Hall of Fame. | 00:17:04 | |
| And. | 00:17:09 | |
| Athletics Hall of Fame and he was inducted as one of the first members of that AS. | 00:17:11 | |
| Of course, multiple state championships with. | 00:17:16 | |
| Camden County High School three, but numerous from other schools. | 00:17:21 | |
| 5 total and numerous from like say two other schools and. | 00:17:25 | |
| A very distinguished coaching career and so. | 00:17:29 | |
| I was, you know, very happy and honored to be able to attend there that night. | 00:17:32 | |
| Umm, but subsequent following that he was inducted into the Georgia. | 00:17:36 | |
| Athletic Hall of Fame. | 00:17:42 | |
| And. | 00:17:44 | |
| Just in the last week has now been inducted into the national high school. | 00:17:46 | |
| Hall of Fame. | 00:17:51 | |
| As a like, they are a very successful, award-winning coach and. | 00:17:52 | |
| Alan or Steve, either one of you all want to add anything to that? Well before before Jeff came to UMM, Camden County High School | 00:17:58 | |
| in. | 00:18:01 | |
| In 2000, Camden County had never won a state championship. | 00:18:05 | |
| And he went on to winning state championships and. | 00:18:10 | |
| Excuse me? | 00:18:14 | |
| We did have a state championship, but it wasn't. | 00:18:16 | |
| Camden County High School at that time it was. | 00:18:19 | |
| Ralph March had a state championship in 1961 if I'm not mistaken. | 00:18:23 | |
| 62 So there was 1. | 00:18:28 | |
| But Jeff wants to state championships at Camden in 2003, 2008 and 2009 and I was lucky to be on his staff whenever we want all | 00:18:31 | |
| three. | 00:18:36 | |
| And umm, I just want my war this tonight and for him, not me. | 00:18:41 | |
| One of our state championship rings, which I'm lucky to have three so. | 00:18:47 | |
| Jeff Aaron is the best football coach I've ever seen in my entire life. | 00:18:51 | |
| But I'm telling y'all something right now. He's a better person. | 00:18:56 | |
| Yeah, he is one of the best people. | 00:19:00 | |
| I have ever met in my life. | 00:19:03 | |
| If you needed something regardless if he did not even know you. | 00:19:06 | |
| He would stop what he's doing to help you out. | 00:19:10 | |
| Jeff Herron is a better man than he ever was a coach, and he's by far the best high school football coach I I've ever seen. | 00:19:14 | |
| And we've got a great football coach up at the high school right now that's going to start winning state championships. To Travis, | 00:19:22 | |
| I appreciate you, too. Thank you so much for everything you've done with those kids up there at the high school. Travis Roland, we | 00:19:27 | |
| appreciate you. And football seasons just around the corner. | 00:19:33 | |
| They'll come out, support our Wildcats. | 00:19:39 | |

| That everybody set up to this point. | 00:19:48 | |
| Jaipur and now. | 00:19:51 | |
| Created an element The amazing part about Camden County winning the state championship in 2003. | 00:19:54 | |
| It was on the heels of the paper mill shutting down. | 00:20:03 | |
| And we needed a motivation. | 00:20:07 | |
| And the football team helped take. | 00:20:11 | |
| The county. The city of Saint. | 00:20:15 | |
| Helped us get through a very difficult time. | 00:20:18 | |
| And with people losing jobs and people getting hurt. | 00:20:21 | |
| And the harem was all about building the team. | 00:20:27 | |
| And building unity. | 00:20:30 | |
| And uh. | 00:20:32 | |
| And he did that. | 00:20:33 | |
| And then? | 00:20:34 | |
| My other thing that was. | 00:20:35 | |
| They need to be noted. | 00:20:38 | |
| From 2000. | 00:20:41 | |
| To 2009, we were the team of the decade in the state of Georgia. | 00:20:43 | |
| And. | 00:20:49 | |
| But it was more than just football. It's what they did on and off of the matter. | 00:20:51 | |
| And he was an awesome guy to work with. | 00:20:57 | |
| Roy was. | 00:21:00 | |
| Thank you. So we certainly extend our congratulations to Coach Aaron. One more thing, Mayor I. | 00:21:02 | |

| I found out about this. | 00:21:09 | |
| Four day in the morning, I saw it on the. | 00:21:10 | |
| Somebody had it on Facebook. | 00:21:14 | |
| I called Coach Herring because he said that. | 00:21:16 | |
| He's going to try to rush home to Tennessee. | 00:21:19 | |
| So that he could wear his red jacket to church the next day. | 00:21:22 | |
| So I called him because I wanted to get his permission, I said. | 00:21:27 | |
| Did you wear your red jacket to church? He said no. | 00:21:31 | |
| We figured be better. | 00:21:34 | |
| We better spend the night here in Atlanta because it was so. | 00:21:35 | |
| Hectic. So I told him what we were going to do and he said a lot of you know. | 00:21:39 | |
| Y'all don't have to. | 00:21:44 | |
| Do that, I say, coach, you know you've always been humble. | 00:21:45 | |
| You've always give everybody else the glory, I said. I think it's about time you started. | 00:21:49 | |
| Getting a little bit for yourself so. | 00:21:55 | |
| Like they said, he wasn't just a coach. | 00:21:58 | |
| But he was an inspiration not only to. | 00:22:00 | |
| Saint Mary's and hard hat boys who were. | 00:22:04 | |
| Go to the football game all the time. But he was an inspiration to all of us and. | 00:22:08 | |

| And, and, and one other thing I'd like to say, and I'll make this real brief, and we haven't said anything about it so far, but | 00:22:18 | |
| Jeff, Jeff was he, he was in the National Hall of Fame and that's what we're talking about. | 00:22:25 | |
| But we also have a 1976 graduate from Camden County High School. | 00:22:31 | |
| That's in that National Hall of Fame, too. And his name, Stump Mitchell, OK, And Stump Mitchell if, if, for those that don't know, | 00:22:35 | |
| Stump. | 00:22:40 | |
| He's an absolutely great guy. He coached on the on the collegiate level for years. He coached in the pros with the Cleveland | 00:22:44 | |
| Browns for a long time. He's at West Georgia University right now helping them out. | 00:22:51 | |
| And umm, he's a Camden County boy and umm, he's a great guy. Stump Mitchell is the first player. | 00:22:57 | |
| In my knowledge. | 00:23:05 | |
| This ever been in? | 00:23:07 | |
| The Hall of Fame nationally. | 00:23:10 | |
| I don't think we've ever had one from Camden before. Congratulations, Stump. | 00:23:12 | |
| Umm, St. Mary's in Camden County is really proud of everything you've done. You're 1 heck of a guy. Thank you. | 00:23:16 | |

| This is Jerry Brumbleau, and I am the incoming president of the Rotary Club of Camden. I'm here this evening to. | 00:02:30 | |
| Talk about the recent Hello Summer events that we had in the. | 00:02:40 | |
| At the waterfront. | 00:02:45 | |
| Last weekend and then the week before at the Saint Mary's Aquatic Center. | 00:02:46 | |
| Sorry, I wanted to share some highlights. | 00:02:55 | |
| So the Saint Mary's Fishing Classic, along with the Hello Summer Festival, has been a Rotary tradition for years. | 00:02:58 | |
| We've been doing this and raising money for our club. | 00:03:04 | |
| For how long for the fishing tournament? | 00:03:07 | |
| There you go. | 00:03:12 | |
| So, as it happens, this year was the most successful fishing tournament we've ever had. | 00:03:13 | |
| And we had a Hello Summer festival as well, but we introduced it. We introduced 2 new events into our. | 00:03:18 | |
| Our event lineup, and one of those was the Lucky Duck Splash at the Aquatic Center. | 00:03:25 | |
| So basically what we did was we had local collaborators, local business people sponsor our event and we provided a complete day at | 00:03:29 | |
| the water park for kids to come in, get admission. | 00:03:34 | |
| Play games, get prizes. | 00:03:40 | |
| Recognize local. | 00:03:42 | |
| Outreach programs like the Saint Mary's River Keeper. | 00:03:45 | |
| The Rotary Club. | 00:03:49 | |
| And also. | 00:03:50 | |
| Robotics club with the high school was there as well. | 00:03:53 | |
| So and then. | 00:03:56 | |
| The week after we had the Hello Summer Festival, we had a craft beer tasting event and particularly the craft beer tasting event. | 00:03:58 | |
| The reason I'm here is to thank the city for the cooperation and participation with that. So we had. | 00:04:05 | |
| Support from Siegel's restaurant. They're the ones that primarily helped us do that, but. | 00:04:12 | |
| Also the DDA. | 00:04:17 | |
| And the tourism Bureau. | 00:04:19 | |
| Both of those institutions were integral with helping us execute this event. | 00:04:22 | |
| They helped us with advising on advertising. | 00:04:27 | |
| Helped us with the permitting process, the scheduling process, long and short. We had an event in downtown Saint Mary's that every | 00:04:30 | |
| attendee said. | 00:04:34 | |
| This is a great idea. Can we please do it next year? | 00:04:39 | |
| We are able to get volunteers from local nonprofit groups, including the Kiwanis Club. | 00:04:42 | |
| Rotary Club of Camden County, Saltwater Performing Arts and many others that volunteered to come help at the event and participate | 00:04:47 | |
| with attendees. | 00:04:52 | |
| We hope to have this event again next year and we just wanted to thank you guys for your support. | 00:04:56 | |
| All right, now I'll give you a little bit more detail. One, this was the biggest fishing tournament we had we raised. | 00:05:02 | |
| Well, we gave away $11,000 in cash prices just at the fishing tournament. | 00:05:08 | |
| But like what Mitch said is the purpose of the event is to raise money for the Camden County Rotary Club for charitable. | 00:05:13 | |
| Things that we do in the community. | 00:05:20 | |
| And that was a good success. Well, this year we did something different. We added this craft beer thing. | 00:05:22 | |
| And so. | 00:05:27 | |
| That would not have worked without the city. | 00:05:29 | |
| And our local businesses. | 00:05:32 | |
| And and other clubs helping put this thing on. | 00:05:36 | |
| Because it's the first time we've ever done anything like that. | 00:05:40 | |
| That was able to happen, and it happened without a hitch. | 00:05:43 | |
| Starting with Mr. Blackerby, but he's not here today. | 00:05:46 | |
| But when I think he wrote the ordinance for the. | 00:05:51 | |
| The alcohol catering license and City Council passed that. | 00:05:55 | |
| City Clerk implemented it. | 00:06:01 | |
| And we didn't have anybody from the state threatening to put us in jail, lock us up or take our permits away. | 00:06:03 | |
| For the first time you know so I think that worked and that's that started with you guys and then. | 00:06:08 | |
| I've not had an event where we've had that much cooperation between. | 00:06:13 | |
| Businesses have donated over 50 and $17,000. | 00:06:17 | |
| For charitable contributions to the thing to. | 00:06:22 | |
| The different civic organizations that participated with us. | 00:06:26 | |
| But and the city. | 00:06:30 | |
| Bent over backwards to help us. | 00:06:32 | |
| Candice and. | 00:06:35 | |
| Main Street, Angela. | 00:06:36 | |
| Made this thing really work, but it took the whole city. | 00:06:39 | |
| To do that you guys passing that ordinance and then. | 00:06:43 | |
| We had the TV fire department. | 00:06:46 | |
| Public works, and I hope I didn't leave anybody else out, but there were. | 00:06:49 | |
| There was a everybody corporate incorporated to the fullest extent and made this thing work really good. | 00:06:54 | |
| And I think it'll be a really good event in the future for the city. | 00:06:59 | |

| Texas received word by Union General Gordon Granger of the emancipation of slaves. | 00:07:48 | |
| And whereas June 19th has since become known as Freedom Day. | 00:07:54 | |
| And the official day of recognition for Juneteenth. | 00:07:58 | |
| And whereas Juneteenth will be celebrated in various observances. | 00:08:01 | |
| Throughout the US, Camden County and city of Saint Mary's. | 00:08:05 | |
| And whereas City Council designated June 19th the city holiday. | 00:08:08 | |

| Volunteers. Family members, Workers, first responders. | 00:11:35 | |

| We made history. The first not Emmy nomination in the county, the first Emmy win in the county. | 00:11:54 | |

| Uh, we wouldn't want, we wouldn't have been as effective in the Vietnam War as we did because. | 00:13:51 | |
